“Downton Abbey” had created ripples back in 2016 and when it went off the air in 2016, fans were just hoping to see their favorite characters once again. A new movie in the series is most likely as the producers are looking to come up with a new installment. However, it may not come anytime soon.

Ever since the movie was released in Septemeber, the fans have been clamoring for the sequel. Even at the box office, the movie did gross a whopping $185 million globally. When quizzed on whether a sequel is likely, producer Gareth Neame claimed that “We’re working on what the story is, and when we might be able to make it. But it’s the same as the first time around: We have to try to get everyone back together again. And that was very challenging.”

However, before the new sequel sees the light of the day, the producers and other team members have other priorities and requirements coming up. The writer Julian Fellowes and producer Gareth Neame are currently busy with their period drama on HBO –  “The Gilded Age”. Since the drama has been draining all the energy for the two of the major players of Downton Abbey.

The plans about the new sequel have been at a very nascent stage as of now but given the interest shown by the two important persons, we may soon hear an announcement. And if that happens, the fans of Downton Abbey would indeed find it extremely interesting enough.
